Psychological Assessment
About Psychological Assessment and
Testing
Does your child struggle at school? Do you have difficulties
staying focused and concentrating while at work? Is learning
a struggle for you or for your child? Have you noticed
recent changes in your work performance or in your child’s
school performance? Would you like to understand more about
how you think about and relate to others?
Enrichment Counseling and Assessment has providers who specialize in psychological
evaluation and testing services. Our unique commitment to this area of psychology
sets us apart from others in the mental health field. Our providers conduct thorough
psychological evaluations and provide useful feedback after the evaluation. We
have appropriate materials to test pre-school children, grade school children,
adolescents, and adults.
When appropriate, special narrative reports are generated to explain results.
In addition, feedback sessions are available, where you attend a special face
to face meeting with a psychologist to discuss evaluation results.
Appointments for psychological assessment and testing can be arranged for Saturdays
or on evenings so that you do not have to take off work or remove your child
from school.

When is Testing Useful?
We commonly use psychological testing in situations where
individuals may be experiencing Learning Disorders and
Academic Issues, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bariatric
Surgical Issues, ADHD, Anxiety & Depressive Disorders,
etc. Enrichment provides the following psychological
assessment and testing services:
- Learning Disorders
- Behavioral and School Problems
- Personality Assessment
- Intelligence Testing
- Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD)
- Gifted Abilities
- Emotional Disturbances
- Pre-Surgical Bariatric Evaluations
Intelligence or Cognitive Testing
Also called IQ tests, these assessments attempt to measure
your intellectual functioning or your basic ability to understand
and assimilate the world around you and apply this knowledge
to enhance the quality of your life. These tests also assess
functions such as memory, visual and verbal reasoning skills,
as well as visual and verbal learning ability. Often, pre-schools
and elementary schools recommend or require IQ testing for
admission.

Personality or Projective Testing
Personality tests attempt to measure your basic personality
style and are most often used in clinical, research, or court
settings to help with diagnosis and treatment. The psychologists
at Enrichment Counseling and Assessment are competent in
administering a number of different personality tests to
assess an individual's personality style.
Clinical Testing
Clinical tests are used to help determine precisely what
diagnosis fits a particular group of symptoms an individual
might be experiencing so that an effective plan of treatment
can be developed. Such assessments are often used to assess
for depression, anxiety/panic, and post-traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) to name a few.
Academic or Achievement Testing
Similar
to IQ tests, Achievement Tests are often performed to assess an individual’s
ability to learn certain material and/or material they have already learned.
Such tests can be helpful in providing information regarding learning delays
or to point out areas of academic difficulty to be re mediated.
Learning Differences Assessment
The Learning Differences Assessment Program at Enrichment is designed to address
academic issues that any child, adolescent, or adult may be encountering. We
often receive referrals from parents of children who feel that their child
has "fallen in the cracks" in terms of attention from their respective
educational system. Psychological testing and consultation are helpful modes
of intervention in these cases.
